Contains a letter from 1907 indicating that the book was that of a Mr. Joseph Howard Jr.. Joseph Howard Jr. was a journalist for the New York Times and President of the New York Press Club.  Prior to his tenure with the Times he was an editor for the Brooklyn Eagle, during which time he published articles leading to the "Great Civil War Gold Hoax" of 1864, which caused riots in New York (a part of the Civil War Draft Riots). 

Hard Cover in Good Condition.  Light Brown cloth with gold gilt on front cover.  Leather plate on upper spine containing the title and author, as well as "vol. X", which indicates this book was a part of the "Works of Robert Louis Stevenson" set published by Scribner's Sons in 1895.
